A Lanarkshire Army officer received his MBE from HRH Prince Charles at Windsor Castle.
Major Angus Steele picked up his gong for services to the soldiers of 2 SCOTS - The Royal Regiment of Scotland with wife Eilidh, his mum Jessie and 14-year-old son Logan making the trip to share in the moment.
Proud Eilidh told Lanarkshire Live : “It was such a great day, we were all just so proud of him.
“We only knew a couple of days before the New Year Honours List came out and then once he was able to see his name on the list he was able to tell all of the family.
“It was great to be down there with his mum and our youngest son to share it with him.
“Unfortunately our two oldest boys, Lewis and Kieran were unable to be there but they were delighted for him.
“He has been stationed at Glencorse Barracks for the first five years so it has been nice having him so close to home after being all over the world.”
Career soldier Angus, who lives in Cleland, has served in the Armed Forces for the past 37 years and has seen action in major conflicts in Northern Ireland, Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan.
Angus is due to retire next year after decades of service however the family connection in the forces continues with son Lewis taking the first steps in his Army career.
“I’ve got one going in and then another going out,” joked Eilidh.
“Angus is due to retire in September next year so I’ll need to find some jobs for him around the house or in the garden.
“It will be nice to have him back for good because he has been gone for so long.
“He did four tours of Afghanistan and Iraq and you can’t help but worry when he was away.
“We lived in Germany at the time and the Army did so much for us but you wouldn’t be human if you didn’t worry.”
