Lamar Jackson missing playoffs vs. Bengals playing part in standoff with Ravens

The Cincinnati Bengals beat the Baltimore Ravens in the wild card round of the playoffs this past postseason while not needing to line up against former MVP Lamar Jackson.

And it would appear that’s at the crux of some potential problems for the Ravens this offseason.

A report from ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler and Jamison Hensley cites sources that say the Ravens anticipated Jackson would be ready for that playoff game against the Bengals. Per the writeup, Jackson had attended quarterback meetings but otherwise rehabbed in “relative isolation.”

Fast forward to now, the Ravens plan to use the franchise tag on Jackson and there’s always a chance the team could entertain a trade.

A source told Fowler and Hensley the following: “A couple of months ago, I would have said no way [that a trade will happen]. Now it feels like anything is possible.”

At a time the Bengals are expected to extend Joe Burrow as quickly as possible, the Ravens are the team with quarterback drama in the AFC North. Interestingly, overcoming those Ravens and the drama around Baltimore during that timeframe might play a key role in whatever happens next.
