Lalchand Rajput in race to be Mumbai Cricket Association's T20 Mumbai League Governing Council chairman

MUMBAI: Former India opener Lalchand Rajput is in the race to be the chairman of the Mumbai Cricket Association’s (MCA) T20 Mumbai League Governing Council.

Rajput was the chairman of the MCA’s CIC from 2020 to 2021, and has been the MCA secretary also. He’s currently coaching Zimbabwe and was a coach of India’s inaugural T20 World Cup winning team in 2007.

The 59-year-old played two Tests and four ODIs.

Rajput, who is currently coaching Zimbabwe, was a coach of India’s inaugural T20 World Cup winning team in 2007.

Currently, Milind Narvekar, PA to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, is the chairman of the MCA’s governing council. “Besides Rajput, the other candidates for the MCA’s governing council chairmanship are Narvekar, Suraj Samat, Nilesh Bhosale and Vikas Aklekar,” a source told TOI on Saturday.

The elections for the post will be held in the Annual General Meeting of the MCA on March 19.
