Lakers star Anthony Davis to be re-evaluated in four weeks with foot sprain

Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis has been diagnosed with a mid-foot sprain, and he will be re-evaluated in four weeks, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Davis suffered this injury in Wednesday’s game against the Utah Jazz just before halftime. He went up to catch a lob pass but landed awkwardly on his right ankle, which bent really bad.

The 28-year-old big man has already missed a chunk of time due to an MCL sprain he suffered on Dec. 17, so this re-evaluation period will sideline him until March 17. That’s about 12 games he could miss because L.A. plays on March 18. The given timetable does not mean Davis is guaranteed to return by then, rather a new status will be determined for his possible return.

The Lakers are currently 27-31 with 24 games left to play before the postseason. It will be up to LeBron James, Russell Westbrook and company to keep this team in a play-in spot until Davis can return.
