Defending Steph Curry has become a common topic of conversation amongst players who have lined up against the nine-time All-Star. Paul George, Austin Reaves and Miles McBride have all recently shared their stories about guarding the Golden State Warriors point guard. The latest to reveal what it’s like to guard Curry was Jarred Vanderbilt.
In the second round of the 2023 Western Conference postseason, the Los Angeles Lakers forward drew the assignment of guarding the two-time Most Valuable Player.
Buy Warriors TicketsIn a recent appearance on Theo Pinson’s “Run Your Race” podcast, the former Kentucky Wildcat spoke about what it was like to guard Curry in the playoffs.

We ran like three miles that game. I’m chasing Steph around. Obviously, Game 1 — did a good job. Game 2, I actually got hurt that second game. I think Moses Moody fell on my leg. So, at that point, I’m a little hobbled and I still got to chase him. You know, Steph is just non-stop moving. It’s a tough task. People don’t realize — it’s a tough task being the guy chasing somebody around.

In the second round of the 2023 playoffs against the Lakers, Curry averaged 26.7 points on 43.9% shooting from the field and 34.4% from beyond the arc to go along with 7.5 assists and 5.5 rebounds.
