Lakeland shopper ditches central heating for item that costs '1p a night' to run

A shopper who has been struggling with the cost of living crisis is heaping praise on a 1p per night gadget from Lakeland that is "more efficient than a heater or electric blanket."

Energy bills remain a concern for many households across the country this year, with many looking for more affordable methods of staying warm without turning on the central heating.

This has been the case for Rachel Pugh of the Manchester Evening News who says that she has been "forced to choose between buying food or topping up the electric" over the last year.

Testing out the Sherpa Electric Heated Throw - which has been reduced from £89.99 to £71.99 - she was left thoroughly impressed.

Rachel had attempted to avoid using central heating, but found she got cold to the point where it made her unwell. After that failed endeavour, she was "over the moon" to try out the heated fleece throw from Lakeland.

According to the retailer, electric blankets can cost as little as 1p a night to run.

She explained: "It only costs a matter of pence to run per hour, depending on your electricity supply. I can happily leave my Lakeland Sherpa Electric Heated Throw on for a couple of hours without panicking it's going to drain my electric - something which is rare in today's climate."

Featuring nine different heat settings, including a timer option, Rachel added that the Lakeland Sherpa Fleece Throw takes a "matter of seconds to heat up" and "keeps you warm and toasty for hours."

She added that she was particularly thankful for the timer as she knows that the electricity will not keep running while she is fast asleep during the night. It also means that you won't wake up sweaty and too hot in the mornings, which is another result.

According to the reporter, the Lakeland Sherpa Electric Heated Throw was "luxurious" as it managed to keep her "warmer than her central heating ever could."

And she isn't the only who has fallen in love with the Lakeland item, as the retailer's website currently loads of five-star reviews from rather impressed shoppers who have also snapped it up.

One five star reviewer wrote: "Utter luxury and perfect warmth. So pleased with this heated throw that was a fabulous Christmas present."

A second wrote: "With rising energy costs it keeps you warm when watching TV in a cold room. Good quality, well made, feels luxurious. So pleased I have one."

A third five star reviewer said: "This is a fabulous throw. It’s so warm and cosy, and a good weight, that I hardly need to even switch it on, it’s so warm! Would thoroughly recommend, especially with the 3 year guarantee."

A fourth wrote: "This blanket is great. It’s so warm, heats up quickly & the controls are simple and easy to use. We use this if cold when working from home & it runs for free off our solar panels, even on a dull day; its electricity consumption must be very low."

You can save £18 by purchasing the Lakeland Sherpa Electric Heated Throw for £71.99 instead of £89.99 on the Lakeland website right now.
