The world is full of beautiful real-life winter wonderlands, but a small village in New York has just been named the prettiest one you'll want on your radar.
Lake Placid has nabbed the top spot in a ranking of the most Instagram -worthy winter wonderlands worldwide.
The village is situated in the Adirondack Mountains in Essex County, New York, and has a population of just over 2,000.
It's exactly its size and quaint feel - as well as the stunning Whiteface Mountain and views across the lake - which make Lake Placid a big draw for those festive fans living in the big city.
Its name also massively precedes it, having twice hosted the Winter Olympics and sharing a name with a crocodile slasher flick of the same name, which is actually set in Maine.
Over the years 396,000 people have visited the village and posted about it on Instagram with the winter wonderland hashtag, making it the most post about winter wonderland by far.
Johnston Canyon in Banff, Alberta, comes second with 86K Instagram posts.
The Canadian National Park is always a big draw in the winter time because of the easy to navigate trails which run through dramatic cuts in the limestone rock.
A particularly beautiful feature of the area are the Upper Falls, which freeze during the colder months, providing an excellent opportunity for ice climbing.
Partnachklamm, Germany - which is also known for its spectacular frozen waterfalls - bagged the bronze medal with 60K Instagram posts.
The deep gorge has been cut over thousands of years by a mountain stream, forming a unique natural landmark which is made even more impressive by deep snow and ice in the winter.
Its spectacular views of wild waterfalls and rapids attract two million visitors a year.
