Lafayette County now has more confirmed measles cases than any other county in southwestern Wisconsin's outbreak. Wisconsin Department of Health Services figures reported by WRCO show 73 confirmed and six probable cases in Lafayette County as of September 11, compared with 62 confirmed cases in Iowa County and 20 in Grant County.
The shift happened quickly. Iowa County's confirmed count did not change between September 4 and September 11, so all 19 newly confirmed cases that week came from Lafayette and Grant counties. The outbreak now totals 155 confirmed and six probable cases, and Wisconsin has recorded 163 measles cases overall this year, according to the state.
