This year’s Academy Awards presenters include a former host and multiple Oscar winners, the show’s producers announced Thursday.
Chris Rock, Lady Gaga, Kevin Costner, Rosie Perez, Yuh-Jung Youn and Zoë Kravitz are the first group of presenters to be announced ahead of this month’s ceremony in Los Angeles.
“Movies inspire us, entertain us and unite us across the globe,” Oscars producer Will Packer said. “That’s the precise goal of the show this year, and we’re thrilled to welcome the first of a stellar lineup joining the Oscars stage to help us celebrate the power of film and honor the year’s best in filmmaking.”
Rock hosted the Oscars in 2005 and 2016, while Youn won best supporting actress at last year’s Academy Awards for her “Minari” performance of a grandmother in a Korean American family living in 1980s Arkansas.
Gaga is a three-time Oscar nominee who won best original song in 2016 for “Shallow” from the romantic-musical “A Star Is Born.”
Perez was an Oscar nominee for best supporting actress in 1994 for the drama “Fearless.”
Costner is a three-time Oscar nominee, with each of the nods coming in 1991 for the classic Western “Dances with Wolves,” which he directed and starred in. His wins came for best picture and best director.
And Kravitz will be just a few weeks removed from the debut of her highly anticipated superhero movie “The Batman,” in which she plays the vigilante Catwoman. The DC Comics flick hits theaters Friday.
Producers say additional presenters will be announced ahead of the 2022 Oscars, which take place March 27 at the Dolby Theatre and will air live on ABC.
Thursday’s news follows last month’s announcement that Amy Schumer, Wanda Sykes and Regina Hall will host this year’s Academy Awards. It is the first Oscars ceremony since 2018 to feature a host, and the first ever to be emceed by three women.
