LUDHIANA: The police arrested a 45-year-old labourer for raping the five-year-old daughter of his neighbour on Sunday.
In her police complaint, the girl’s mother said, “My daughter was playing with children in the street on Sunday evening when she suddenly went missing. When I was looking for her, someone told me that they have seen her with the accused. When I went to the house of the accused, I found my daughter crying there. On asking the reason, she said the accused took her to his room on the pretext of giving her a chocolate and raped her. He had threatened to kill me if she spoke about it.”
Investigating officer ASI Sukhwinder Singh said an FIR under sections 376 (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC and Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been lodged against the accused, who has been arrested.
