THE UK Government has rejected John Swinney's plea for a new North Sea energy wealth fund to be ringfenced for the north east of Scotland, according to reports.

The new North Sea Energy Wealth fund was announced as the Jackdaw gas field, off the coast of Aberdeen, was approved by ministers on Wednesday.
