Labour MP Stella Creasy's Walthamstow office attacked by vandals

Labour politician Stella Creasy has vowed to stand firm after her office in Walthamstow was vandalised in a brazen early morning attack.

The long-serving parliamentarian, who has represented the north-east London seat since 2010, took to social media to share shocking images of smashed windows at her campaign headquarters.

Scotland Yard confirmed they are investigating the incident, which occurred in the dead of night between 3.10am and 3.30am on Sunday. The attack comes as Creasy gears up to defend her seat in the upcoming July 4 election.

Ms Creasy, who lives with her family in the town, tweeted: “Message to whoever attacked my office last night: You don’t intimidate me and you don’t belong in the political process.

“[The] police are already on this to find you - will press for the strongest penalties for such an anti democratic attack.

“I know Walthamstow won’t be cowed or influenced by your violence either.”

She added that “malicious and false” leaflets had been distributed about her.

Ms Creasy, a former shadow minister, won 76 per cent of the vote in 2019.

Her office is in Orford Road, part of the Walthamstow Village neighbourhood.

She responded to a tweet that said that her office looked “squalid” and “run down”, saying: “Every penny I raise goes on paying my staff properly so I have enough people to help Walthamstow.

“If the office looks run down it’s because the people inside matter more which is why this attack is also so distressing as they work really hard to help local residents too.”

Detective Superintendent Dion Brown said an “urgent investigation” is under way and a full follow up of CCTV footage will commence.

“It is entirely unacceptable for the office of one of London’s prospective parliamentary candidates to be targeted in this way.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, citing reference 2621/23jun or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Other candidates standing in Walthamstow are: Imran Arshad, Workers Party of Britain; Mohammed Ashfaq, independent; Dan Edelstyn, independent; Sanjana Madan Mohan Karnani, Conservative Party; Martin Lonergan, Reform UK; Ruth Theresa Rawlins, independent; Rosalinda Ayo Rowlands, Green Party; Nancy Taaffe, Trade Union and Socialist Coalition; and Rebecca Taylor, Liberal Democrats.
