Sean McVay may only be 36, but he's already a Super Bowl winning head coach, and has even been approached by Amazon for a huge broadcasting deal.
The Los Angeles Rams head coach has been involved with NFL franchises since he was 22, and his rise peaked last year as he won the biggest prize in American football. McVay joined the Rams in 2017 in what was his first head coach role, but the hard work from last season has unravelled in front of his eyes during the current campaign.
McVay was approached by Amazon before the start of the season and offered a huge deal to join their broadcasting team, but opted to stick it out with the Rams. However, they're 3-8 this season, and and executives think he could soon go back on his decision.
That's according to The Athletic, who spoke to executives around the NFL - with McVay at the centre of some topics. Amazon approached McVay after their Super Bowl triumph and offered him a huge five-year deal worth $100million (£83.6m) to join their Thursday Night Football team, according to the New York Post.
The report stated that McVay was set to meet with Amazon bosses, but decided against it as he wanted to help the Rams defend their Super Bowl title. McVay was on just $8.5m (£7.1m) per year compared to the $20m (£16.75m) Amazon offered him, something which may now look more appealing.
And one executive thinks that McVay could now join Amazon after all, as they would offer him crazy money after already showing an interest. "I think he goes to Amazon for a bajillion dollars because they wanted him before," an exec said to the Athletic. "It will bring something sexy."
McVay is only 36, so has a long future in the game no matter what avenue he chooses to go down. But Amazon may have to wait for their man, as the Rams head coach signed a contract extension after committing to the franchise.
With Amazon interest and large figures circulating, the Rams quickly got their act together and tied McVay down once more. It may not be going to plan this season, but with Cooper Kupp and Matthew Stafford currently out, even McVay can't work miracles.
It's been a disastrous defence of their title, and it doesn't even look like the Rams are going to be in play-off contention - let alone win it again. And some close to McVay feel as though the one Super Bowl ring may be enough for the Rams coach.
McVay is sedimented in history after becoming the youngest ever coach to lead a team to the title, and according to The Athletic, those close to him claim he will only feel professionally fulfilled if he enters broadcasting. It appears to be a passion McVay has, and he'd have a lot to offer in terms of analysis.
The coach has also just got married, and a huge deal and a much less stressful life may be appealing, depending on his priorities. But there's certainly time for McVay to fulfil both dreams in his career.
