Kynren confirms summer dates for return of 'UK’s biggest live action show'

Outdoor spectacular Kynren - An Epic Tale of England has confirmed dates for its late summer return with nine shows, now on sale, between July and September.

Billed as the UK’s biggest live action show, the award-winning Kynren will be back on its huge 7.5-acre outdoor stage in Bishop Auckland, County Durham, with another dramatic staging of 2,000 years of British history, mixing fact and myth, over 90 minutes. The show, which is rated as ‘excellent’ on TripAdvisor and has attracted visitors from across the UK and as far afield as the US, China, South Africa and the Middle East, issued a call-out last year for volunteers to take part in 2023's event as it is a huge undertaking involving around 1,000 cast and crew.

This summer's audiences can expect more high-octane drama at the 11Arches Park site when the show gets under way in July with a story set to cover the likes of Viking and Anglo-Saxon leaders clashing at Stamford Bridge; both World Wars, royal occasions and magical scenes of King Arthur with his sword Excalibur.

This year's dates take in a seven-week run during the summer holidays when Kynren will be performed every Saturday from July 29 until September 9 and it is promising lots of choreography, stunts, feats of equestrianism, 'world-class' special effects and pyrotechnics.

Chief executive officer Anne-Isabelle Daulon said: “We’re thrilled to be able to deliver a pulsating show which re-tells history in a way which captivates and enthrals our audiences. Everyone involved in the production has incredible passion, commitment and talent, ensuring that each performance lingers long in the memory of all those families, friends and loved ones who come along to see it.”

The family-show is produced by 11Arches, a charity which was established together with the Auckland Project by the philanthropist Jonathan Ruffer and it has attracted almost 400,000 visitors since it made its debut in 2016. To book tickets for Kynren see here.
