TV presenter Kym Marsh has announced she has become a grandmother for the second time. The 46-year-old shared her happy news with her 513k Instagram followers on Thursday (August 18) evening.
Kym revealed in February that her son David and his fiancée Courtney were expecting their first child in the summer explaining how she was "proud" and "bursting" to share the news. The actress and former Hear'Say singer is due to take part in Strictly Come Dancing 2022 and filming gets underway for the series next month, The Mirror reports.
Posting on her social media on Thursday, Kym shared a number of monochrome pictures of her new grandson and wrote: "Introducing…..Clayton Lenny David Cunliffe!!! Our beautiful new grandson was welcomed into the world on 17.08.22 weighing a whopping 10lb 7oz!! I am so very proud of our future daughter in law @courtneyleac for being such a warrior and of our son @cunliffe890 for being the most wonderful supportive partner.
"You are already incredible parents and he is a very lucky little boy!! We love you so much," Kym then added a touching message to the new arrival: "And to our darling Clay. You are so so loved already by so many and we are so very lucky to be your YaYa and Pop. What adventures you have before you little one, we can’t wait to watch you grow… just don’t grow up too fast!!! We love you with all of our hearts."
The former Coronation Street actress, who played Michelle Connor from 2006 to 2019, shared three black and white photographs and a sweet video of her new grandson sleeping. One of the pictures showed her son David carrying the new arrival out of hospital.
A number of famous faces shared their congratulations in the comment section. Former Corrie co-star Charlie Condou said: "Ah my darling, congratulations to all of you!! He's gorgeous xx" whilst actress Angela Griffin said: "Congratulations to you all!!!!!". Former S Club 7 singer Jo O'Meara wrote: "Congratulations," followed by three heart emojis.
Kym became a grandmother for the first time in 2019 when her daughter Emilie gave birth to her son Teddy. The BBC Morning Live presenter will be preparing to take to the Strictly dancefloor in a matter of weeks, with the launch show scheduled to be filmed on September 7.
Speaking about joining the 2022 line-up for the hit BBC show, Kym said: "I've considered doing Strictly for years but the timings never worked out. I’m so delighted that this year they have! I’m a huge fan of the show and can’t believe I’m going to go from watching at home in my pyjamas to actually dancing in front of the judges in a glittery dress, it’s unreal!"
Strictly Come Dancing starts on BBC One and BBC iPlayer this Autumn.
