Kylie Minogue shares Jason Donovan reunion photos that every Neighbours fan has been waiting for

Kylie Minogue has delighted Neighbours fans by posting pictures of her reunion with Jason Donovan as they filmed scenes for the last episode of the long-running soap opera. The pair returned to their roles of Charlene and Scott Robinson after an absence of 30 years for the series swansong.

The last episode of the long-running Australian soap opera Neighbours will be aired on Channel 5 later this month, the broadcaster has announced. After 37 years on screen, the show will broadcast its finale in a double episode special at 9pm on July 29. More details for that here.

There has not been much information released about the return of two of the show's most memorable characters, but Kylie and Jason have given a first look of what is to come.

The pictures show they were dressed in Charlene and Scott’s signature attire, and are obviously still close. Kylie shared the pictures on social media with the tagline ‘Now we’re back together,’ making reference to her and Jason’s legendary hit Especially For You.

Jason also shared the pictures saying: "So good to be back with this absolute legend. Scott and Charlene final scenes."

Kylie has talked her return in previous interviews, saying: "It was lovely and emotional. Driving into Ramsay Street was quite something."

She told Today Extra: "Firstly, where’s all that time gone? Secondly, everything looks exactly the same. Thirdly, Scott, Charlene, Jane, Harold – it all just came flooding back! There was a lot of talking about memories and going back in time."

Memorable characters from across many eras of the show returned to Ramsay Street to feature in the programme's last scenes. Since the news of its cancellation was confirmed earlier this year, bosses have promised it will end on an 'incredible high'.

The future of the show had been in doubt after Channel 5 confirmed it would stop airing the show in February. And in March the show’s Twitter account said: “We are so sorry to say that after nearly 37 years and almost 9,000 episodes broadcast we have to confirm that Neighbours will cease production in June.

“Following the loss of our key broadcast partner in the UK and despite an extensive search for alternative funding, we simply have no option but to rest the show. To our amazing, loyal fans, we know this is a huge disappointment, as it is to all of us on the team. We thank you for all your messages and support and promise to end the show on an incredible high. From here on, we are celebrating Neighbours.”
