Kylian Mbappe told to ‘grow up’ over latest PSG quit threat as Liverpool emerge as frontrunners to sign star

Kylian Mbappe has been told to “grow up” by former France star Emmanuel Petit as bombshell rumours around the Paris Saint-Germain striker emerge once again.

Reports in Spain and France detail Mbappe’s apparent desire to leave PSG in January, only months after ending a saga surrounding his future by snubbing Real Madrid and extending his contract in Paris.

The 23-year-old is rumoured to once again be unhappy at the Ligue 1 leaders while he criticised coach Christophe Galtier’s tactics in a recent social media post, which was quickly deleted.

PSG are said to prefer not to do a deal with Spanish giants Madrid, favouring potential suitors Liverpool.

For ex-Chelsea and Arsenal midfielder Petit, the onus is on Mbappe to improve his attitude.

Petit told RMC Sport: “I want to tell him, ‘Kylian, grow up, that's life’. Kylian, the sooner you solve your problems with yourself, the sooner your performances will be affected on the field and your relations with the public and your teammates will find a certain appeasement.

“He annoys everyone today. He makes it personal all the time. He even puts himself above the club. Has everything that has happened in recent months gone to his head?

“You were on the right wing when you arrived at PSG, then you were on the left. Now you are in the centre. But it's never fixed on the pitch. The players up front spend their time moving around and switching in their respective area.

“The club is more important than any one player. Today, Mbappe's statements are irrelevant and show a lack of respect for the institution, but also for his partners. Because by saying that, he is targeting his coach but also certain players. I find that regrettable.'”
