Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe has revealed that former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry was his inspiration.
Mbappe has taken the world by storm ever since making his professional debut for Monaco back in 2015.
Since making a big-money move to PSG in 2017, the French international has become one of the best players in the world and won the World Cup in 2018 at the age of 19, scoring in the final.
Used primarily on the left of a front three, comparisons to compatriot Henry were an obvious one and over the past few years, Mpabbe has recreated some of Henry's most famous goal celebrations in homage to the ex-Gunners captain.
From where they started their careers to both being from the suburbs of Paris, Henry in an interview with GQ last year admitted that he didn't like the comparisons due to the players having their own way - though he did add that 'I actually love him, by the way. The way he plays is just crazy.'
And Mpabbe has told the Between the Lines podcast that growing up, he moulded his game around Arsenal's former number 14.
"I think as a French player you can Thierry Henry, it's normal, but Ronaldo Nazario too," he said.
"It's this type of player who play with the ball, connected with the game, but also can play without the ball create some movement without the ball, this type of complete player I want to be.
"So I worked every day to be as good as them but it is difficult."
Mbappe's contract runs out in the summer and he is tipped to join Real Madrid, though has been linked with a move to the Premier League.
