Kylian Mbappe makes major PSG transfer decision that impacts Chelsea and Liverpool

The future of Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe has reportedly been confirmed and it could affect Chelsea next season.

Chelsea confirmed their place in next season's Champions League campaign after results elsewhere sealed a top-four spot for the Blues. Thomas Tuchel's side secured a third place finish after drawing 1-1 with Leicester on Thursday due to the Blues' superior goal difference over Tottenham.

According to transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio, Mbappe is set to snub Real Madrid this summer in favour of renewing his contract with PSG. After months of speculation, the World Cup winner looks set to stay in France for the foreseeable future which could see PSG continue to pose a significant threat in Europe's elite competition.

Tuchel referred to N'Golo Kante as Chelsea's own 'Kylian Mbappe' regarding how influential the 31-year-old is for his side. The German's comments suggest he wants Kante's contract situation sorted ahead of next season with the France international's current deal expiring at the end of next season.

Mbappe was rumoured to join Spanish giants Real Madrid this summer after refusing to sign a new contract with PSG earlier in the season. This looks to have changed now with multiple reports claiming the 23-year-old will sign a new deal with Mauricio Pochettino's side, meaning PSG will continue to be a serious threat for Chelsea in the Champions League next season.

New owner Todd Boehly's £4.25billion takeover is expected to be completed in the coming weeks, with Tuchel likely to be heavily backed with busy summer transfer window on the cards for the Blues. Antonio Rudiger has confirmed that he will leave the club this summer, reportedly set to join Madrid after five years at Stamford Bridge, but Mbappe looks unlikely to be joining the German defender in the Spanish capital.

Chelsea will need to strengthen their defence significantly this summer with Andreas Christensen also set to leave the club once his contract expires, whilst the futures of both Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso are also in doubt. Mbappe's French compatriot Jules Kounde has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge this summer after the Blues were interested in the Sevilla centre-back last year.
