Kylian Mbappe injury latest as Real Madrid hit by double scare ahead of Man City showdown

Kylian Mbappe missed Real Madrid training ahead of their Champions League showdown with Manchester City at the Bernabeu on Wednesday.

Mbappe did not take part in training at Real’s Valdebebas training ground on Tuesday morning due to a muscle issue, adding to Xabi Alonso’s injury woes.

Real were already set to be without as many as eight first-team players against Manchester City but could now lose Mbappe, who will be assessed over the next 24 hours.

Eduardo Camavinga is also a doubt after missing training on Tuesday with an ankle issue, while Trent Alexander-Arnold has been ruled out for at least two months after tearing his left thigh muscle.

Alonso is under pressure to turn results around after a run of just two wins in eight games in all competitions, and met with club president Florentino Perez last week to discuss his future.

But Alonso maintains that the squad are on the same page ahead of the Manchester City showdown.

"We are all on the same boat," said Alonso on Tuesday. "We have to go through positive and negative times.

"We need to believe the next game is an opportunity and tomorrow we have a very exciting game for all of us, and we need to keep our eyes open to have that energy so the Bernabeu enjoys what it sees.

"That emotional bond is very important tomorrow."

Alonso added that he had the full support of the Real board.

"Communication is constant," Alonso continued. "We have unity, we are all together in this, I have a good relationship with them."
