Football fans should consider Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray as a player who relishes being underestimated.
In CBS Sports’ Will Brinson’s NFL quarterback tier rankings, he placed Murray in Tier No. 6. That's on the same level as Sam Howell, Jordan Love, Baker Mayfield and Desmond Ridder, and ahead of only rookies C.J. Stroud, Anthony Richardson and Bryce Young.
Murray responded with a simple tweet: “I love it.”

Many experts have dropped the first pick in the 2019 NFL draft down their rankings following an injury last season and some inconsistent play. The two-time Pro Bowl passer suffered a torn ACL in the Cardinals Week 12 showdown with the Patriots.
In 11 games last season, prior to the injury, Murray threw for 2,368 yards and 14 touchdowns, while adding 418 rushing yards and three touchdowns on the ground. Hinson explained that the unknown surrounding injury was part of his rationale for dropping the QB among the league’s bottom-dwellers.
Clearly Murray took exception to the decision, but he’ll have to take to the field to prove the pundits wrong in 2023.
