Kyle Walker praises three England teammates and sets Man City challenge

Manchester City defender Kyle Walker has heaped praise on Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold, Newcastle's Kieran Trippier and Southampton's James Ward-Prowse, while also admitting that he would like to provide more assists for Pep Guardiola's side.

City have 16 players in total representing their countries at the World Cup, with five of the group making the cut for Gareth Southgate's England squad. Alongside Walker, John Stones, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish and Kalvin Phillips were all chosen as part of the Three Lions' travelling party to Qatar.

Guardiola will no doubt be hoping that his players make it through the tournament with a clean bill of health, as a congested fixture schedule awaits the Blues upon their return in to club football in December.

Walker has been absent with injury for the majority of the season, as he managed to overcome the odds in a race against time to be fit enough for Southgate to include him in his squad.

The City full-back has now opened up on which of his England teammates he is most jealous of and which part of their game he would like to take from them.

As part of the FA's 'If I could' series, Walker said: "Trent, Trippier or Ward-Prowse’s delivery of a football. They are unique players in that they can put it on a six-pence. Nine times out of ten it leads to a goal."

He also he set himself the challenge of contributing more directly to his side's goal output while wearing a City shirt.

When asked which part of his game he would most like to improve, Walker said: "…providing more assists. I would like to get a little bit further forward and get the balls into the box a little bit more. My position at City is more for the transitions than setting up goals. We are very fortunate that we have a lot of players who can set up goals, without me going up there, but if I could add that to my game then I would be right up there."
