Singler posted a video on Instagram early Tuesday morning, saying he’s been “mistreated and abused.”
“I have been mistreated and abused, neglected, made into a mental example, and I fear for my life every day, and people in my community make me look out as if I’m gonna be someone that’s gonna be a problem and make things difficult for people when I’m only trying to be helpful,” Singler said. “I feel like I have a certain way about myself and strength and purpose that does not get valued or get treated properly.”
Many former players commented on Singler’s Instagram, offering their support.
Kevin Love, Singler’s AAU teammate growing up, wrote, “I love you Kyle. Hit me whenever. Please.”
NBA veteran Isaiah Thomas wrote, “Here for you bro! Always and forever.”
Philadelphia 76ers center Andre Drummond commented, “You aren’t alone brother! I’m here for you.”

Singler followed up his cryptic post with another video, this time with his face visible. Singler explained how he’s trued to start another career, but continues to be played like a “fool.”
“Creating chaos, creating narratives to, again, have it be profitable for people,” Singler said. “My life has not changed at all. I am being held hostage in a certain situation and position to, again, create a false narrative about someone and people in general, when all I have been wanting to do is to create a business in nature to allow people to feel –.”
Like the first video, the second video abruptly cuts off at the end.
Love took to X to express his concerns and support for his friend and former teammate.
“To everyone who has spent time with Kyle Singler and whose lives he has touched – please shower him with the love and support he needs+deserves,” Love wrote. “I would not be who I am today without him. I am forever indebted and love him. To the NBA family, Duke BB family, & South Medford community – let’s show up for one of our own.”
Singler was a four-year starter at Duke University (2007-2011), leading the Blue Devils to victory in the 2010 national championship. Singler was named the NCAA Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.
Singler was selected in the second round of the 2011 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons.
Singler played professionally in the NBA and internationally from 2011 to 2019. Singler’s last NBA appearance came in 2018 with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
