Kyle Lafferty set to face Celtic in cup semi-final following ten-game ban

KYLE LAFFERTY looks set to face Celtic in his first game back after a ten-match ban.

The Kilmarnock forward was today handed the lengthy ban after being found guilty of using a sectarian slur in video footage which emerged last month.

It's a huge blow to Killie, who will now be without their talisman for the next two months.

The 35-year-old scored in Derek McInnes' side's win over Dundee United in the quarter-finals of the Premier Sports Cup on Tuesday night.

And it would appear that his first game back upon his return to action will be in the same competition.

In 11-games' time for Killie they will face Celtic in the semi-finals of the League Cup at Hampden.

As long as none of their ten-games in-between now and mid-January are postponed, this will be the first opportunity for Lafferty to pull on the blue and white stripes of the Ayrshire club again.

The game will be Killie's first time at Hampden in almost 11-years.

While it was probably the worst draw possible for the Rugby Park club, the last time they took to the national stadium, they defeated Celtic to lift the League Cup in 2012.
