Kyle Lafferty investigated as Kilmarnock launch probe over alleged 'sectarian language' in viral clip

Kilmarnock have launched an investigation into alleged sectarian comments by Rugby Park striker Kyle Lafferty after a clip emerged on social media of the Northern Ireland international speaking to Celtic fans in a bar.

The video starts with Lafferty, currently on international duty ahead of a Nations League clash against Greece on Tuesday, preparing to pose for a photo with a man who. But as the clip is being filmed the man says: “Up the Celts” and after stepping away Lafferty is then alleged to have said “fenians”.

The clip has gone viral and Scottish Premiership side Kilmarnock said they are investigating the matter involving the former Rangers and Hearts man. A club statement reads: "Kilmarnock Football Club are aware of a video circulating online which appears to show a member of our playing staff using language of a sectarian nature. The club finds all forms of discriminatory behaviour completely unacceptable. The matter will be investigated by the club."
