Kurt Zouma injured in warm-up with West Ham forced into late change ahead of Leicester clash

West Ham were forced into a late change ahead of kick-off at Leicester City as Kurt Zouma pulled up during the warm up.

The France international was replaced by Issa Diop in the Hammers starting XI, having been named in the side despite the controversy around his animal cruelty this week.

Zouma started against Watford on Tuesday night less than 24-hours after a video emerged of the former Chelsea defender kicking and slapping his pet cat.

Manager David Moyes stood by his decision to start the 27-year-old ahead of the Watford game and again ahead of the trip to the King Power, where he was named in the starting XI once again, only to pull up shortly after beginning his warm up. The home fans delivered a loud boo as Zouma’s name was read out over the tannoy.

Zouma missed a spell through December and January with a hamstring injury while he also suffered a knee problem during the FA Cup win over Kidderminster Harriers last weekend.

A long spell without Zouma could deal a serious blow to West Ham’s hopes of qualifying for the Champions League this season.

West Ham have confirmed the defender was feeling unwell.
