West Ham United defender Kurt Zouma has lost his sponsorship deal with Adidas after he was caught abusing his pet cat.
A video showed the Irons defender dropping the cat and kicking it as it landed. He proceeded to chase it around a living room and threw a pair of shoes at the cat, before slapping it in the face.
It makes Hammers manager David Moyes ' decision to start him in Monday night's 1-0 Premier League win over Watford even more baffling as Zouma is condemned for his actions.
He has been fined £250,000 by West Ham and his two cats have been taken into care by the RSPCA. The London side's club sponsor Vitality have suspended their partnership over their handling of the animal cruelty.
Now sport giants Adidas have confirmed that they wish to sever their ties with the French player. Zouma held a boot deal with the company.
A statement reads: "We have concluded our investigation and can confirm Kurt Zouma is no longer an Adidas contracted athlete.”
An RSPCA spokesperson said earlier on Wednesday: “The two cats are now in RSPCA care. Our priority is and has always been the well-being of these cats."
