As a veteran musical theater star, Kristin Chenoweth is most well-known for her roles as the whimsical good witch Glinda in the original production of Wicked, or as sweet Sally Brown in the Peanuts classic You're A Good Man Charlie Brown, for which she won a Tony.
Less widely recognized but nearly as impressive is her home. The triple threat posted a video on her Instagram page walking viewers through her modern house, and one of our favorite – yet unconventional – details has to be the bathroom.
The small space is made sophisticated by its reflective bathroom tiles, which give the room a dramatic mirrored effect. Though unexpected and indisputably bold, the overall look works – and it's something we should get used to, as design trend experts predict more of this statement decorating quirk.
'2024 is all about reinventing the roaring 20s in our home, and what better way than adding statement tiles to our bathrooms in the form of luxe metallic finishes,' says Grazzie Wilson, Head of Creative at Ca' Pietra.
Metallic details can often be found in bathrooms in the form of shiny spouts or towel rings, but incorporating sleek finishes into tiling is a unique way to create dimension and visual interest.
'Tiles are often one of the first things you notice when you enter a bathroom, so it is important to think carefully as to how to make them count,' Wilson explains. 'The ongoing trend for luxe metals means there are some eye-catching tile designs available.'
One important consideration to make when utilizing mirrored or metallic tiles is to factor in bathroom lighting.
'If you do decide to add metallic tiles, our recommendation is to play to the material’s strength by adding backlighting or down lighting to make the most of the glamour it affords,' she suggests.
Fluorescent lighting can diminish the impacts of the tiles, so ensure the mood is set to make the most of these chic statement decals.
