Kris Commons reckons Ange Postecoglou may just be "slightly disappointed" Celtic didn't hit Dundee United for 10.
The reigning Premiership champions came within a whisker of a double-figure demolition of the Tannadice strugglers with an astonishing display on Sunday. Hat-tricks for both Kyogo and Liel Abada were among the highlights as Celtic flexed their attacking muscles in devastating fashion.
The result followed Liverpool firing nine past Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday and heaped more misery on toiling United manager Jack Ross. It was anything but misery for a delighted Celtic travelling support as their team turned on the style to rack up the biggest away victory in the club's history. But Commons reckons Postecoglou, in his pursuit of perfection, will be secretly lamenting the fact his team never made it to 10.
The pundit and former Celtic star wrotein his Daily Mail column: "I thought Celtic were going to go one better than Liverpool on Saturday and actually make it 10-0.
"When Brendan Rodgers first arrived at Celtic, I can vividly remember him telling us that he wanted to beat a team 10-0. Celtic were leading 9-0 yesterday and still had ten minutes left at the end to make it 10-0. In his heart of hearts, Ange Postecoglou will probably be slightly disappointed they didn't quite manage it.
"But spare a thought for his counterpart in the opposite dugout. It wasn't so long ago that Ross was viewed as the next bright young thing in the Scottish management game. His reputation is now going down the drain at an alarming rate. Some people have suggested that he should actually just walk away.
"It's pretty obvious that he's lost the dressing room. If he wants to keep his dignity, he could just offer his resignation. But that's pretty rare these days. He will want to fight on and prove he can turn it around. He's also under contract and would need to be paid off if United decide to make a change.
"These players need to take a good look at themselves. It's a matter of personal pride. They looked like they had just thrown in the towel. I spoke at the start of the season about how I hate seeing managers losing their job so early in a campaign and I do stand by that.
"But these are now exceptional circumstances at Tannadice. The longer United allow this to continue, the further into a relegation scrap they will fall."
