Rangers hero Kris Boyd couldn't resist a loaded jibe at Celtic as he reminded former Parkhead star Stiliyan Petrov who the "bigger team" in Glasgow are.
The pair were on punditry duties alongside Eilidh Barbour and former Aberdeen boss Stephen Glass as Ange Postecoglou's men restored their nine-point lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership thanks to Callum McGregor's late goal at Pittodrie. Jim Goodwin's side stuck to a defensive game plan throughout the 90 minutes and looked to frustrate Celtic, but the Dons were eventually undone by a thumping effort from the Parkhead skipper.
It doesn't get any easier for Goodwin as Rangers make the trip to the Granite City on Tuesday as Michael Beale looks to continue his positive start to his time in the Ibrox hot seat. Former Hoops midfielder Petrov questioned during the post-match dissection on Sky Sports of the Celtic clash if Goodwin would deploy the same tactics against Rangers - sparking a quick correction from Boyd.
Petrov stated: “They (Aberdeen) are going up against another big team on Tuesday…” before Boyd cut-in adding: "the bigger team.”
Host Barbour looked to keep the peace between the pair as she interjected: “You can argue about that later” Petrov went on: “It will be interesting to see if they go into the two games with the same approach.”
A smirking Boyd rounded off: “Tune in on Tuesday and you’ll see that my friend.”
