Kris Boyd reckons Celtic can 'do what they want' in terms of team selection for the remainder of the season but that the 'quality' in the squad depth might be lacking.
The Rangers hero was responding to being quizzed on the Hoops form of late, with a defeat to Rangers last weekend compounded by rescuing a point in a 2-2 draw with St Mirren on Saturday. Ange Postecoglou was asked if the likes of top star Cameron Carter-Vickers being missed was a factor but the Hoops boss was keen to stress it wasn't about one player.
But ex-Ibrox hitman Boyd says Postecoglou testing the water is nothing new and he understands the drop off in the last two due to the high levels of performance throughout the campaign. On the panel with Jack Ross and James McFadden, the ever-entertaining Boyd revealed his shock that Carter-Vickers was snubbed for the PFA Player of the Year award but says Celtic can 'do what they want' in search for a treble.

He told Sky Sports: "I've listened to a lot of people talk in the last few weeks about Celtic, they can do what they want. They've won the league comfortably and have a Scottish Cup final to look forward to. To try and clinch another treble.
"As a manager he can do what he wants [Postecoglou]. The squad is big but I think we maybe saw last week it's the quality isn't there in terms of what people thought.
"When you miss your star players, that's why they are star players, you're bound to miss them. Cameron Carter-Vickers, how he has not been nominated for Player of the Year award? He's been outstanding.
"Celtic, you can understand the drop off because their levels have been so high for so long and when you go full pelt all season you get to the stage where it's a relief to get over the line. They have a cup final and will pick themselves up again because that's what good teams do.
"From now until the cup final, Celtic can do what they want."
