One of the nation's most beloved snacks companies has warned shoppers they may face a shortage of some of their favourite snacks following a ransomware attack.
The cyber attack could lead to a shortage of some of the UK's most popular snacks, including KP Nuts themselves, Hula Hoops, McCoys, Tyrell Crisps, Butterkist and Skips.
KP has said the attack - which targeted their IT and communications systems - could lead to delays and cancellations on deliveries until "the end of March at the earliest."
The British company has been targeted from Conti Ransomware Group which has led to major disruptions in their supply chain.
The hackers are said to be demanding payment in order to decrypt their files so that the company can restore computer and data access.
In response to the attack, Nisa sent a warning message that KP Snacks would have to be limiting order sizes to "manage what stock we have."
KP released a statement regarding the ransomware attack - which happened on Friday, January 28 - where they have said they are "working with third party experts to assess the situation."
“As soon as we became aware of the incident, we enacted our cybersecurity response plan and engaged a leading forensic information technology firm and legal counsel to assist us in our investigation.
“Our internal IT teams continue to work with third-party experts to assess the situation. We have been continuing to keep our colleagues, customers, and suppliers informed of any developments and apologise for any disruption this may have caused," said the snacks company.
It comes after another popular company Walkers were also hit with IT issues at the end of last year which led to a shortage of some of the nations favourite crisps on supermarket shelves.
