Kourtney Kardashian took a swipe at her mum Kris Jenner in the latest episode of The Kardashians, after the matriarch decided not to include her three children in Travis Barker’s beachside proposal.
The reality TV star, 42, and the Blink-182 rocker, 46, got engaged in October last year when Travis popped the question with a romantic beach proposal.
The reality star’s famous family was invited to the beachside hotel in Montecito to share the special moment, but while Travis’s children were in attendance, Kourtney’s were noticeably absent.
After Travis bent on one knee on the sand during Wednesday’s episode of The Kardashians, Kourtney and her sisters had a champagne dinner at the hotel to celebrate their engagement.
But the POOSH founder’s children Mason, Penelope and Reign, who she shares with ex Scott Disick, were not there and when Kourtney called nine-year-old Penelope to share the happy news, her daughter hung up in tears.
Kourtney slipped away from the celebrations to chat with her little one, saying to Penelope on FaceTime: “P! Do you want to know what my surprise was? We got engaged!!”
Kim Kardashian, 41, joined Kourtney on a sofa and told Penelope: “Look it! Mum got a ring!”
But Penelope started sobbing on the call, leaving her mum asking if the news was “upsetting”, before her daughter shouted: “Hang up!” before ending the call herself.
Kourtney confessed to Kim that she “felt bad” for her daughter, before ringing son Reign to share news of the engagement.
Reign asked what it meant, before Kourtney explained: "It means he proposed and gave me a ring!"
But Kourtney’s son shouted back: "Not exciting!"
The mum of three became emotional in front of the Hulu cameras, saying: “Penelope took it hard. I think it's a big change for her and even though she loves Travis, I don't think she knows what that means.
“Is it taking me away? She doesn't know what it means.”
Kourtney then took aim at mum Kris, who helped plan the engagement surprise, saying: “I do wish that my kids were here.
“I think it would have made them feel more included and part of the surprise. I know that my mum made that decision, and it probably wasn't her best.”
The couple, who are known for their very public displays of affection, tied the knot in a Las Vegas chapel last month - albeit without a marriage license.
While the pair have been friends and neighbours for years, they became close during the coronavirus pandemic and went public with their whirlwind relationship in January last year.
The Kardashians is available to stream on Hulu in the US and on Disney+ in the UK.
