Kourtney Kardashian’s Black-and-White Kitchen Cabinets Prove Minimalism Can Be Stunningly Timeless – Here’s How

Kourtney Kardashian.

A monochromatic kitchen is as timeless as they come. The combination of black and white is striking yet versatile, meaning that it can be incredibly fitting for modern and traditional spaces alike.

When it comes to the former, we are taking cues from Kourtney Kardashian, whose white cabinets with black handles are sleek, elegant, and utterly timeless. They are complemented by a marbled black backsplash and white-painted walls, for a minimalist, modern look that makes great use of the color of the moment, Pantone's Cloud Dancer.

Ultimately, her space is a reminder that black-and-white kitchen ideas don't have to be boring. Instead, they can epitomize classic luxury.

According to design experts, so many of us choose a black and white palette for our kitchens because the foundation provides an opportunity to experiment with different aesthetics and trends.

'The beauty of a black-and-white kitchen is its versatility,' designer Nina Lichtenstein states.

'It can lean sleek and contemporary with high-gloss finishes and sharp lines, or warm and classic when softened with natural textures like marble, wood, or woven fibers. This combination also provides the perfect backdrop for layers of personality, whether through brass or matte-black hardware, patterned tile, or statement lighting. Because the palette is so clean, every accent becomes intentional, every material has room to shine.'

She continues, 'When styling a black and white kitchen, think in terms of rhythm and contrast. Allow one color to take the lead, whether it’s white cabinetry against black stone counters or the reverse, and use the opposing tone to punctuate and frame. Incorporate texture to prevent the palette from feeling flat: veined marble, handmade tile, wood stools, or linen window treatments add warmth and dimension. And don’t be afraid to introduce a subtle third element, such as soft metallics, greenery, or even a muted color in art or textiles. These small touches keep the room from feeling too stark while preserving its striking simplicity.'

To recreate this look, we love the monochromatic kitchenware from Hudson & Grace, like this half-dipped stoneware mug and this salad plate. You really don't need to pick up the paintbrush to follow Kourtney's example with this timeless pairing. Starting small is the first step.
