A new high school drama titled 'Pyramid Game' is set to make its debut in Korea on Feb. 29, with a special screening at the international TV festival Series Mania in Lille, France. The festival, known for showcasing top TV series, will run from March 19 to 21.
Based on the popular webtoon created by Dalgonyak, Pyramid Game follows the story of Sung Soo-ji, played by Bona, a student who faces the challenges of a school-wide popularity game. In this psychological thriller, students vote to determine the most popular student, with the lowest scorer facing violent consequences.
Despite Soo-ji's social skills and likable personality, she finds herself at the bottom of the rankings, becoming a target for bullying. The drama explores her journey to overcome the game's cruelty and end the cycle of violence.
The cast includes talented actors such as Kim Ji-yeon, Jang Da-a, Ryu Da-in, and others, with direction by Bak So-yeon and writing by Choi Su-i.
Pyramid Game will be the sole Korean content featured at Series Mania this year, presented out of competition. The drama is a co-production between Film Monster and CJ ENM Studios, and will be available on TVING in Korea.
As part of a global partnership between Paramount+ and CJ ENM, Pyramid Game is one of seven Korean originals commissioned for international distribution. The drama joins other titles like Duty After School, The Cursed, and Mouse in expanding the Korean content offerings on Paramount+.
In addition to Pyramid Game, Paramount+ has announced the release of other Korean originals, including crime drama Dongjae, the Good or the Bastard, and romantic comedy Dreaming of Cinde Fxxxing Rella. These titles add to the diverse lineup of Korean content available for international audiences.
