KOLKATA: Uncertainty looms over the October launch of New Garia-Airport Metro's first phase between New Garia and Ruby because construction is yet to begin in access points in two of the five stations that are to be commissioned. While each station is designed to have four access points, Kavi Sukanta and Hemanta Mukherjee stations have only three access points at present due to hurdles in the construction of the fourth. Their construction could take up to three months after the hurdles are cleared.
Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL) is chasing an October 2022 deadline for the corridor's phase-1, a 5km stretch between the terminal station Kavi Subhas and Hemanta Mukherjee at Ruby crossing.
