Kolkata: ‘Raze illegal structures to restore wetlands’

KOLKATA: The East Kolkata Wetlands Management Authority (EKWMA) has urged the environment and heritage department of Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) and Anandapur police to complete the demolition of encroachments in daag numbers 1,147; 1,148 and 1,149 in Ward 108 under Dhapa mouza.

“On Thursday, we, with the cooperation of KMC and Kolkata Police, successfully demolished a new structure that was being built. We have forwarded the FIRs against older structures as well and have sought the help of the civic authority and police to pull down those structures and restore the wetlands,” EKWMA chief technical officer K Balamurugan said on Friday.
