Kolkata: Protest blocks College Street, halts ambulance

KOLKATA: A protest by a political party at College Square on Friday afternoon was stopped by the police at its place of origin.

But traffic in Amherst Street-College Street-CR Avenue stretch was still slow. Police said the protesters squatted on the road hitting College Street business for the third simultaneous day. Ambulances also got stuck.

A 17-year-old from Howrah, who underwent an operation barely a couple of days ago, was forced to walk down 200 metres to get into the ambulance.
