KOLKATA: Parents and children studying at GD Birla Centre for Education, Ashok Hall Girls’ Higher Secondary School and Mahadevi Birla Shishu Vihar remained on tenterhooks on Friday even as the schools stayed shut for the second day in a row. Sources in the school management, however, said they were hopeful of an early resolution and expected the schools to reopen in about 10 days.
The management committee of the three schools had announced indefinite closure following agitation by some parents against a rise in fees. No online class was held at any of those schools either. Expressing disappointment at the school's decision to suspend classes till further notice, parents at the three schools claimed a majority of them did not have any problem with the increase in fees. Cops were deployed at the schools to prevent any untoward incident.
