NEW DELHI: Veteran Trinamool Congress MP Sukhendu Sekhar Roy has called for the CBI to conduct a custodial interrogation of Kolkata police commissioner Vineet Goyal and the former principal of R G Kar Medical College and Hospital regarding the alleged rape and murder of a woman doctor. Roy's demand centers on uncovering the truth behind the purported suicide narrative surrounding the doctor's death on August 9.

The victim's parents were informed over the phone on the morning of August 9 that their daughter had died by suicide at the hospital where she worked. Contradicting this, Kolkata police commissioner Vineet Goyal has claimed that no member of the police force had communicated with the parents about suicide.
