KOLKATA: Prodded by complaints and apprehensions about a slew of issues, the custodians of New Town started an online grievance cell where residents spoke about the issues directly to NKDA officials for quick redressal on Friday.
On the first day of the grievance redressal meeting over Zoom, which authorities said would be conducted on every second and fourth Friday afternoon from now on, officials said a 24x7 helpline number — 18001037652 — was active where residents can call and register their grievances at any time of the day.
The one-and-a-half-hour-long meeting was attended by 200-odd residents of multiple blocks in New Town. Lutful Alam, a senior functionary of New Town Citizens’ Welfare Fraternity, summarised a series of problems ailing the township, like absence of a government hospital, crater-filled roads and unregulated toto and auto fares.
