KOCHI: An ambitious plan of authorities to make the royal town of Tripunithura a transit hub, interconnecting the upcoming Kochi Metro station, Tripunithura railway station and the proposed bus terminal, is facing a major backlash as government has clarified that it is not considering the bus terminal project which is major component of the transit hub.
The project was aimed at developing Tripunithura into a major satellite town of Kochi. The bus terminal was proposed to be constructed on the plot adjacent to the railway station. But it is learnt that a proposal for the land acquisition for the bus terminal which was submitted by the Tripunithura municipality has been rejected by the state government.
