KOCHI: Lack of land coupled with the lackadaisical attitude of the authorities is posing as a hurdle in the way of construction of public toilets in the city. Kochi, a fast-growing metro, has been facing the major problem of the dearth of public toilets for the past several years.
NGOs that have stepped in to address the issue said that the authorities cited lack of available land. "Absence of suitable land is the major hurdle for us in setting up public toilets in the city," said architect S Gopakumar of Better Kochi Response Group (BKRG), an NGO that is planning to construct toilets in 20 locations in the city.
