'Know nothing': Allan Saint-Maximin hits back at Newcastle transfer rumours amid fresh Barnes claim

Allan Saint-Maximin has taken to social media once again to insist he will 'just keep working' amid speculation over his Newcastle United future. The Magpies' talisman is one of several first-team stars who has been tipped with a potential exit this summer, as Eddie Howe looks to reshape his squad ahead of the new campaign.

Saint-Maximin's status at St James' Park has diminished since the appointment of the former Bournemouth boss. The forward was a key player during his first two seasons in black-and-white under Steve Bruce, but the 26-year-old often had to settle for a spot on the bench for much of last term.

Competition for a starting spot on Newcastle's left flank is fierce, with Anthony Gordon, Alexander Isak, Joelinton and Joe Willock all enjoying spells in the role. Saint-Maximin's prospects could be dealt a further blow with the Magpies closing in on a deal for Leicester City forward Harvey Barnes.

The Telegraph claimed earlier this week that United were considering the sale of Saint-Maximin to fund the move for Barnes and comply with Financial Fair Play. The former Monaco and Nice star was one of numerous senior stars to report for the start of pre-season training on Sunday, and the attacker has seemingly responded to the latest question marks over his future.

Saint-Maximin shared a clip of a goal scored in training on Instagram, along with the caption 'people can keep talking when they know nothing. I just keep working'. The number 10 is among the latest Premier League stars to be linked with a lucrative switch to the Saudi Pro League, with a potential price tag in the region of £40 million.
