A man was punched in the face by two knifemen during a terrifying burglary in Wilmslow. The men took four ‘high value’ watches in the incident, police say.
Cops in Cheshire say the man returned to his home, on Manchester Road, and was then punched to the face by two men on his doorstep. The men then asked the man for his watch before kicking open the front door and taking four other watches from inside a safe.
The victim sustained an injury to his eye during the attack at 11pm on Thursday (May 26) evening. It’s thought the attackers were wearing gloves and balaclavas, and fled the property in an unknown direction.
Now, police are appealing for witnesses to come forward. Detective Constable Andy Megson, of Macclesfield local policing unit, said: “Our enquiries are ongoing but at this stage we believe it is possible these men were waiting for the occupants to arrive home in order to confront them and steal their jewellery.
“Although there have been no further reports, to reassure the local community we will have officers visible in the area and are encouraging residents to be vigilant. I want to take this opportunity to encourage residents to check their CCTV or dash cam footage and to come forward if they have information that could assist with our investigation. I would also ask anyone who may have seen or heard two men in the area shortly before and after the burglary took place to get in touch.”
The pair are believed to have a Liverpool and Manchester accent.
