These pictures show how lucky a knife-wielding robber was to survive after smashing a stolen car into a tree.
Adam Challoner, 26, had lured a pizza delivery driver to Hastie Close, Netherley, before pulling out an eight inch knife and robbing the Vauxhall Astra on April 28 this year. Only eight minutes later Challoner had "wrapped" the vehicle around a tree three miles away on Netherley Road, Tarbock Green.
Photographs taken by the ECHO at the time show total destruction of the vehicle. Challoner was hospitalised for three weeks after being pulled from the wreckage and remains on crutches to this day.
