A police investigation is underway after youngsters were threatened with a knife by a man and a woman in Ayr at the weekend.
The pair demanded cash from the group of youths at around 8.30pm on Saturday on on River Ayr walk near Mill Street.
The man threatened them with a knife and demanded money and personal belongings from them. The youths ran off without handing anything over and were uninjured, police confirmed today.
The man is described as being in his 20s, 5ft 9in tall, of slim build with sallow skin. He was wearing a snood, dark clothing, gloves and had his hood up.
The woman is described as being in her 40s, around 5ft 9in tall, of heavier build, with blonde hair and a sunken facial appearance and had a slightly impaired walk. She was wearing a white knee-length parka-type coat, a cream jumper, light-coloured jeans and light-coloured trainers.
Detective Constable Scott Hendry, of Ayr CID, said: “Thankfully none of the youths were injured as a result of this incident
“The area was busy at the time so I would ask anyone who witnessed the incident or saw the man and woman matching the description to contact us.
“Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3505 of 2 April. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
