Kit Harington cast as Gilderoy Lockhart in HBO’s Harry Potter adaptation

Game of Thrones star Kit Harington has been cast as Gilderoy Lockhart in HBO ’s upcoming Harry Potter television adaptation.
Harington replaces Nicholas Hoult, who departed the role over “scheduling conflicts”, according to Variety.
Harington previously voice the character, who was portrayed by Kenneth Branagh in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets , for the Audible audiobooks.
The first season of HBO’s adaptation is scheduled to premiere on Christmas Day 2026.
The series features a new cast including John Lithgow as Dumbledore, Paapa Essiedu as Snape, and Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter.
