Kirsty Gallacher has broken her silence on quitting GB News after less than a year on the channel.
The popular presenter, 46, fronted the breakfast show from March 2021 - but by the November she was forced to step down.
Kirsty hosted the programme alongside Simon McCoy, but revealed she sadly had to give up the gig due to health concerns.
She shared: "I left GB News mainly for health reasons.
"I’d found out last autumn that I had an acoustic neuroma in my right ear, which is a small, benign tumour that causes low-level tinnitus."
Tinnitus is the medical term for hearing sounds that come from inside the body and is often described as 'ringing in the ears'.
However, several sounds can be heard, including buzzing, humming and grinding.
Explaining how the condition affected her, Kirsty said: "It often deprives me of good-quality sleep, so getting up early to do breakfast shows took too much of a toll on my health," reports Top Sante magazine.
The mum-of-two joined GB News after starting her on-screen career at Sky Sports in 1998.
But taking to Instagram last year, Kirsty wrote: "During the summer I discovered I have a tumour in the inner canal of my right ear. Thankfully, it's benign and not hugely detrimental to my normal life.
"However, the tumour has caused severe tinnitus which makes it difficult to sleep. Sadly my 3am starts at GB News, compounded by sleep deprivation, are exacerbating my symptoms.
"I've taken the difficult decision to step back from my role on the Great British Breakfast while I focus on my health. GB News has been incredibly supportive of me and I look forward to returning to the channel as soon as I can.
"As I adjust to managing my condition, I will carry on my less disruptive work commitments and continue maintaining a healthy lifestyle and training so I can get back to my normal routine quickly."
The Celebrity MasterChef star was applauded for sharing her story, with former GMB director Erron Gordon writing: "Wishing you the very best Kirsty. Those early starts are tough. Take it easy."
GB News' own social media page also commented, posting: "Wishing you all the best @TheRealKirstyG and good luck with your recovery, from all your friends at GB News."
Kirsty was one of the main faces of Sky Sports and Sky Sports News for almost 20 years and has anchored various news programmes including Channel 4's morning show RI:SE.
She has popped up on a host of other shows, including: Ant Versus Dec on Saturday Night Takeaway, Gladiators, Kirsty's Home Videos, Simply the Best and the reality series The Games.
