TV personality Kirstie Allsopp has revealed that a friend once dialled 999 for an ambulance when he was merely suffering from a hangover, as she said money for the NHS is "put in for others, not you."
The co-presenter of Channel 4 property shows including Location, Location, Location and Love It or List It UK said in a series of tweets yesterday (January 13) that she had been brought up to believe that you didn't use the NHS if you could afford to go private.
Kirstie, the daughter of Charles Allsopp, 6th Baron Hindlip, a former chairman of the auction house Christie's, said this was a "big issue". And the mother of two sons and stepmother to her partner's two children from a previous relationship said she felt "deeply guilty" for using up "valuable resources" even when she had taken her children to A&E to have broken bones mended.
